WTF!?!?

Those people that, throughout history, have tried foretelling the future (Nostradamus, Al Roker, etc.) have given signs of the "end times" (except Al Roker, who just gives signs of weather), and what to look for to know that we're approaching the Big "A". I am beginning to wonder that in those mystical and mythical documents, if there is a notation saying:

"In the year A.D. MMVIII, there will becomest a battle of the greatest musical ensembles, whereas the orchestras of a lesser circumstance shall defeat the superior. Those who Seethe shall destroy the X of Statics; The Fighters of Foo shall overcome the Dust of 7, and the Vaynes of Mud will fall to the Mega Deth. When this time cometh upon the Earth, thou wilst be near to the End Times."

OK maybe not, but for some reason this has been the Year of the Underdog in the Coors Light Superbowl of Rock'n'Roll. I don't know if this is simply the luck of the draw and the right fans are voting at the right times, or if you guys are screwing with us on purpose...nah I'm sure that isn't it. Really, I know that you would NEVER vote against your favorite bands...right?

What I do know is this: You definitely are fans of the S.B.R.R. and are very passionate about the bands (the ones you love and the ones you hate), and that's what this is all about. We have people all over the great Inland Northwest, and as far away as Seattle and South Africa listening online and casting their votes. I LOVE IT!! This is one of my most favorite-est times of the year, and it will be all over too soon! As far as who I expect to win, I'm not even going to predict now. I thought Static-X was going to take this all the way, but the Seether votes shot me (and Wayne) down in the first round. And with all the odd outcomes, I'll just leave it up to you to decide who gets this year's trophy. It will be one to remember, fer sherrr.

Indestructable

I spoke with Cheryl Valentine from Reprise Records today. It looks like Disturbed fans will have to wait until May for the first single from the upcoming CD, "Indestructable". According to Cheryl, it will be more than worth the wait. Each time the band goes in the studio, the goal is to make a better CD than the last. Given the bands tremendous track record this has to be a huge challenge. Well, have they done it again? "Without a doubt", says Valentine. "These guys are f%*&ing rock animals!" The new CD features a much darker side of the band, but is packed full of everything Disturbed fans expect and alot more. Reprise and the band are planning a "huge suprise" to coincide with the CD release. Disturbed will do a few smaller shows in early Spring. Look for a full tour sometime in June.

U Rock!

SBRR for Dummies

(That's our acronym for SuperBowl of Rock'n'Roll by the way)

Yes it's that time again...

...for 8 of the 9 years that Rock 94½ has blitzed the Spokane airwaves, we've brought you the Coors Light SuperBowl of Rock'n'Roll. For those of you new to the area, or just new to Rock 94½, here's the jist of how it goes:

Each year we take the Top 32 bands (according to the year's Rate The Rock surveys), and match them together in a playoff-style battle. This year, we've set up the brackets NCAA-style, with the #1 team (Metallica) taking on the #32 team (Shinedown) and so on. The Diet Pepsi Throwdowns will occur weekdays at 7am, 2pm and 7pm, with one special 11am matchup on Monday 1/21. During the matchups, we'll play two songs from each band and you'll call in and cast your vote for which band you want to see advance. Then Friday 2/1 @ 7am, it's the Grand Championship, where you will decide who will reign supreme in 2008 as Grand Champs. And as in years past, we let you keep track of everything right here at rock945.com. Feel free to download and print out the colorful graphic which will be updated after each matchup, or download the Excel spreadsheet and keep track for yourself.

We also have a trip to Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, AZ up for grabs also. Get qualified with the Super Play of the Day each weekday. Click the cool graphic on our front page for the details.

Oh yeah, make sure you're listening a half hour before each matchup, when your KraZy AuNt KarLa goes Under The Towel with the bands in each Diet Pepsi Throwdown!

N F L

anyone listening to the twice as much rock morning show knows that I began the N F L conspiracy theory months ago...Patriots getting some big and questionable calls in some close games to keep the undefeated streak alive so that the final reg season game would be on the N F L network( an audience the size of a Dennis Kucinich campaign rally)....growing the audience the number one priority, using this game as bait to get people to switch to Direct T V to see the game.....Congress stepped in,the game was simulcast on N B C and C B S and another conspiracy thwarted by the peeps....remember,when G A speaks,Congress listens!!!!
